How To Install avahi on CentOS 7

What is avahi
Avahi is a system which facilitates service discovery on a local network – this means that you can plug your laptop or computer into a network and instantly be able to view other people who you can chat with, find printers to print to or find files being shared. This kind of technology is already found in MacOS X (branded ‘Rendezvous’, ‘Bonjour’ and sometimes ‘ZeroConf’) and is very convenient. We can use yum or dnf to install avahi on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install avahi.
Install avahi on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install avahi using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install avahi
Install avahi on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install avahi using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install avahi
How To Uninstall avahi on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the avahi package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove avahi
