How To Install authprogs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install authprogs on Kali Linux.
What is authprogs
authprogs is:
authrpogs is invoked on an ssh server and decides if the command requested by the ssh client should be run or rejected based on logic in the
authprogsconfiguration file.
Passwordless SSH using ssh identies or pubkeys can enable all sorts of wonderful automation, for example running unattended batch jobs, slurping down backups, or pushing out code. Unfortunately a key, once trusted, is allowed by default to run anything on that system, not just the small set of commands you actually need. If the key is compromised, you are at risk of a security breach.
Authprogs is enabled by using the command= option in the authorized_keys file.
There are three methods to install authprogs on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install authprogs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install authprogs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install authprogsInstall authprogs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install authprogs using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install authprogs using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the authprogs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove authprogsUninstall authprogs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall authprogs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove authprogsRemove authprogs Configurations and Data
To remove authprogs configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge authprogsRemove authprogs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
