How To Install augeas-doc on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install augeas-doc on Kali Linux.

What is augeas-doc

augeas-doc is:

Augeas parses configuration files described in lenses into a tree structure, which it exposes through its public API. Changes made through the API are written back to the initially read files.

Lenses are the building blocks of the file <-> tree transformation; they combine parsing a file and building the tree (the get transformation), with turning the tree back into an (updated) file (the put transformation).

This package contains the generated documentation for the lenses shipping in the augeas-lenses package.

There are three methods to install augeas-doc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install augeas-doc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

Install augeas-doc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install augeas-doc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install augeas-doc

How To Uninstall augeas-doc on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the augeas-doc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove augeas-doc

To uninstall augeas-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove augeas-doc

Remove augeas-doc Configurations and Data

To remove augeas-doc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge augeas-doc
