How To Install atool on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install atool on Kali Linux.
What is atool
atool is:
atool is a script for managing file archives of various types (tar, tar+gzip, zip etc). The main command is probably aunpack, extracting files from an archive. It overcomes the dreaded “multiple files in archive root” problem by first extracting to a unique subdirectory, and then moving back the files if possible. aunpack also prevents local files from being overwritten by mistake.
Other commands provided are apack (create archives), als (list files in archives), and acat (extract files to standard out).
There are three methods to install atool on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install atool Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install atool using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install atoolInstall atool Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the atool package we can use the following command:

To uninstall atool and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove atoolRemove atool Configurations and Data
To remove atool configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge atoolRemove atool configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
