How To Install atfs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install atfs on Kali Linux.
What is atfs
atfs is:
AtFS is a storage system supporting multiple versions of files and associating an arbitrary number of application defined attributes of the form “name=value” with each version. AtFS comes as a function library that is meant as an extension to the UNIX file system. It does this without the need for kernel modifications and without imposing any restrictions to existing file system applications. It is part of ShapeTools, a software configuration management system.
There are three methods to install atfs on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install atfs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install atfs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install atfsInstall atfs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install atfs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install atfsInstall atfs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install atfs using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install atfsHow To Uninstall atfs on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the atfs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove atfsUninstall atfs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall atfs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove atfsRemove atfs Configurations and Data
To remove atfs configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge atfsRemove atfs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove atfs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge atfsDependencies
