How To Install astro-gdl on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install astro-gdl on Kali Linux.
What is astro-gdl
astro-gdl is:
GDL (GNU Data Language) is a free replacement for the commercial software IDL (Interactive Data Language). It has full syntax compatibility with IDL 7.1 and is usable for astronomical data analysis. This metapackage will install astronomy related packages usable with GDL; especially the IDL Astronomy Users Library.
There are three methods to install astro-gdl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install astro-gdl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install astro-gdl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install astro-gdlInstall astro-gdl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install astro-gdl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install astro-gdlInstall astro-gdl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install astro-gdl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install astro-gdlHow To Uninstall astro-gdl on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the astro-gdl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove astro-gdlUninstall astro-gdl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall astro-gdl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove astro-gdlRemove astro-gdl Configurations and Data
To remove astro-gdl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge astro-gdlRemove astro-gdl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
