How To Install asterisk-dahdi on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install asterisk-dahdi on Kali Linux.

What is asterisk-dahdi

asterisk-dahdi is:

Asterisk is an Open Source PBX and telephony toolkit.

This package includes the DAHDI channel driver (chan_dahdi.so) and a number of other Asterisk modules that require DAHDI support. They will not be useful without kernel-level DAHDI support.

After updating apt database, We can install asterisk-dahdi using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install asterisk-dahdi

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install asterisk-dahdi using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install asterisk-dahdi

Install asterisk-dahdi Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install asterisk-dahdi using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install asterisk-dahdi

How To Uninstall asterisk-dahdi on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the asterisk-dahdi package we can use the following command:

To uninstall asterisk-dahdi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove asterisk-dahdi

To remove asterisk-dahdi configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge asterisk-dahdi
