on Debian 10.
What is asciidoc
asciidoc is:
AsciiDoc is a text document format for writing articles, books, manuals and UNIX man pages. AsciiDoc files can be translated to HTML (with or without stylesheets), DocBook (articles, books and refentry documents) and LinuxDoc using the asciidoc command. AsciiDoc can also be used to build and maintain websites.
You write an AsciiDoc document the same way you would write a normal text document, there are no markup tags or weird format notations. AsciiDoc files are designed to be viewed, edited and printed directly or translated to other presentation formats
This metapackage provides a fully functionnal asciidoc environment working with dblatex for historical purposes.
There are three methods to install asciidoc
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install asciidoc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install asciidoc
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install asciidoc

Update apt database with apt

After updating apt database, We can install asciidoc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install asciidoc
Install asciidoc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install asciidoc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install asciidoc
How To Uninstall asciidoc on Debian 10
To uninstall only the asciidoc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove asciidoc
Uninstall asciidoc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall asciidoc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove asciidoc
Remove asciidoc Configurations and Data
To remove asciidoc
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge asciidoc
Remove asciidoc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove asciidoc
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge asciidoc
