How To Install ark on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ark on AlmaLinux 8.
What is ark
Ark is a program for managing various archive formats. Archives can be viewed, extracted, created and modified from within Ark. The program can handle various formats such as tar, gzip, bzip2, zip, rar and lha (if appropriate command-line programs are installed).
We can use yum or dnf to install ark on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ark.
Install ark on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ark using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ark
Install ark on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ark using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ark
How To Uninstall ark on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the ark package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ark
