What is apache-commons-lang

The standard Java libraries fail to provide enough methods for manipulation of its core classes. The Commons Lang Component provides these extra methods. The Commons Lang Component provides a host of helper utilities for the java.lang API, notably String manipulation methods, basic numerical methods, object reflection, creation and serialization, and System properties. Additionally it contains an inheritable enum type, an exception structure that supports multiple types of nested-Exceptions and a series of utilities dedicated to help with building methods, such as hashCode, toString and equals.

We can use yum or dnf to install apache-commons-lang on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install apache-commons-lang.

Install apache-commons-lang on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install apache-commons-lang using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install apache-commons-lang

Install apache-commons-lang on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install apache-commons-lang using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install apache-commons-lang

How To Uninstall apache-commons-lang on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the apache-commons-lang package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove apache-commons-lang
