How To Install antiword on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install antiword on Kali Linux.
What is antiword
antiword is:
Antiword is a free MS Word reader.
It converts the binary files from MS Word 2, 6, 7, 97, 2000 and 2003 to text, Postscript, PDF and XML.
Note that it doesn’t support the XML-based formats which newer MS Word versions produce by default (.docx).
There are three methods to install antiword on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install antiword Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install antiword using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install antiwordInstall antiword Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install antiword using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install antiwordInstall antiword Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install antiword using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install antiwordHow To Uninstall antiword on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the antiword package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove antiwordUninstall antiword And Its Dependencies
To uninstall antiword and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove antiwordRemove antiword Configurations and Data
To remove antiword configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge antiwordRemove antiword configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove antiword configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge antiwordDependencies
