How To Install ansible on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ansible on AlmaLinux 8.
What is ansible
Ansible is a radically simple model-driven configuration management, multi-node deployment, and remote task execution system. Ansible works over SSH and does not require any software or daemons to be installed on remote nodes. Extension modules can be written in any language and are transferred to managed machines automatically.
We can use yum or dnf to install ansible on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ansible.
Install ansible on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ansible using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ansible
Install ansible on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ansible using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ansible
How To Uninstall ansible on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the ansible package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ansible
