In this tutorial we learn how to install anope-ldap on CentOS 7.

What is anope-ldap

Anope is a set of IRC services designed for flexibility and ease of use. This package provides Anope modules to enable IRC commands such as IDENTIFY, RELEASE, RECOVER, GHOST, etc. to use LDAP to authenticate users. It provides a module to tie users to Anope opertypes when they identify via LDAP group membership, too.

We can use yum or dnf to install anope-ldap on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install anope-ldap.

Install anope-ldap on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install anope-ldap using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install anope-ldap

Install anope-ldap on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install anope-ldap using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install anope-ldap

How To Uninstall anope-ldap on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the anope-ldap package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove anope-ldap
