How To Install angband-data on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install angband-data on Kali Linux.

What is angband-data

angband-data is:

Angband is a single-player, text-based, dungeon simulation derived from the game Moria, which was in turn based on Rogue. It is often described as a “roguelike” game because the look and feel of the game is still quite similar to Rogue (though there are now graphical tiles available if you dislike ASCII gaming). Angband has been in more or less continuous development since the early 1990s.

This package contains the data files for the game.

There are three methods to install angband-data on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install angband-data Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install angband-data using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install angband-data

Install angband-data Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install angband-data using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install angband-data

Install angband-data Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install angband-data using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install angband-data

How To Uninstall angband-data on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the angband-data package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove angband-data

Uninstall angband-data And Its Dependencies

To uninstall angband-data and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove angband-data

Remove angband-data Configurations and Data

To remove angband-data configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge angband-data

Remove angband-data configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove angband-data configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge angband-data
