How To Install amd64-microcode on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install amd64-microcode on Kali Linux.
What is amd64-microcode
amd64-microcode is:
This package contains microcode patches for all AMD AMD64 processors. AMD releases microcode patches to correct processor behavior as documented in the respective processor revision guides.
For Intel processors, please refer to the intel-microcode package.
There are three methods to install amd64-microcode on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install amd64-microcode Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install amd64-microcode using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install amd64-microcodeInstall amd64-microcode Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install amd64-microcode using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install amd64-microcodeInstall amd64-microcode Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install amd64-microcode using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install amd64-microcodeHow To Uninstall amd64-microcode on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the amd64-microcode package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove amd64-microcodeUninstall amd64-microcode And Its Dependencies
To uninstall amd64-microcode and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove amd64-microcodeRemove amd64-microcode Configurations and Data
To remove amd64-microcode configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge amd64-microcodeRemove amd64-microcode configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove amd64-microcode configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge amd64-microcodeDependencies
