How To Install aegisub on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install aegisub on Debian 9.
What is aegisub
aegisub is:
Originally created as tool to make typesetting, particularly in anime fansubs, a less painful experience, Aegisub has grown into a fully fledged, highly customizable subtitle editor.
It features a lot of convenient tools to help you with timing, typesetting, editing and translating subtitles, as well as a powerful scripting environment called Automation (originally mostly intended for creating karaoke effects, Automation can now be used much else, including creating macros and various other convenient tools).
There are three methods to install aegisub on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aegisub Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aegisub using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aegisub
Install aegisub Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aegisub using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aegisub
Install aegisub Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aegisub using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aegisub
How To Uninstall aegisub on Debian 9
To uninstall only the aegisub package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aegisub
Uninstall aegisub And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aegisub and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aegisub
Remove aegisub Configurations and Data
To remove aegisub configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aegisub
Remove aegisub configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aegisub configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge aegisub
