How To Install abx on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install abx
on Debian 10.
What is abx
abx is:
abx is a program for performing software-based audio ABX testing on GNU/Linux systems. ABX test (Wikipedia, Hydrogenaudio) is a statistical test for assessing whether you are able to tell for audible differences between two samples. For example, one sample can be a compressed audio file such as OGG Vorbis file and another one its uncompressed variant (WAV, AU, ??). You can then use abx to infer whether you are able to separate the two samples due to compression artifacts.
There are three methods to install abx
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install abx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install abx

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall abx on Debian 10
To uninstall only the abx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove abx
Uninstall abx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall abx
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove abx
Remove abx Configurations and Data
To remove abx
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge abx
