What is SDL2_mixer

SDL_mixer is a sample multi-channel audio mixer library. It supports any number of simultaneously playing channels of 16 bit stereo audio, plus a single channel of music, mixed by the popular FLAC, MikMod MOD, Timidity MIDI, Ogg Vorbis, and SMPEG MP3 libraries.

We can use yum or dnf to install SDL2_mixer on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install SDL2_mixer.

Install SDL2_mixer on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install SDL2_mixer using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install SDL2_mixer

Install SDL2_mixer on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install SDL2_mixer using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install SDL2_mixer

How To Uninstall SDL2_mixer on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the SDL2_mixer package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove SDL2_mixer
