What is SDL2_image

Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) is a cross-platform multimedia library designed to provide fast access to the graphics frame buffer and audio device. This package contains a simple library for loading images of various formats (BMP, PPM, PCX, GIF, JPEG, PNG) as SDL surfaces.

We can use yum or dnf to install SDL2_image on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install SDL2_image.

Install SDL2_image on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install SDL2_image using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install SDL2_image

Install SDL2_image on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install SDL2_image using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install SDL2_image

How To Uninstall SDL2_image on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the SDL2_image package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove SDL2_image
