How To Install NLopt on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install NLopt
on CentOS 7.
What is NLopt
NLopt is a library for nonlinear local and global optimization, for functions with and without gradient information. It is designed as as simple, unified interface and packaging of several free/open-source nonlinear optimization libraries. It features bindings for GNU Guile, Octave and Python. This build has been made with C++-support enabled.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install NLopt
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install NLopt.
Install NLopt on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install NLopt
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
