In this tutorial we learn how to install xdialog on Fedora 36.

What is `xdialog`

Xdialog is designed to be a drop in replacement for the cdialog program. It converts any terminal based program into a program with an X-windows interface. The dialogs are easier to see and use and Xdialog adds even more functionalities (help button+box, treeview, editbox, file selector, range box, and much more).

We can use yum or dnf to install xdialog on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xdialog.

Install xdialog on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install xdialog using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install xdialog

Install xdialog on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install xdialog using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install xdialog

How To Uninstall xdialog on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the xdialog package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove xdialog
