In this tutorial we learn how to install wwl on Fedora 36.

What is `wwl`

This program combines two handy ham radio Maindensquare programs into one. When used as locator, it will take the Maindenhead square on the command line and write it back out as lat / long. When used as wwl, it will calculate distance and azimuth between the two Maidenhead squares given. If only four characters of the Maidenhead square is given, this program will auto fill in the missing two chars with ‘AA’.

We can use yum or dnf to install wwl on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install wwl.

Install wwl on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install wwl using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install wwl

Install wwl on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install wwl using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install wwl

How To Uninstall wwl on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the wwl package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove wwl
