How To Install whois on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install whois
on Fedora 36.
What is whois
Searches for an object in a RFC 3912 database. This version of the WHOIS client tries to guess the right server to ask for the specified object. If no guess can be made it will connect to whois.networksolutions.com for NIC handles or whois.arin.net for IPv4 addresses and network names.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install whois
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install whois.
Install whois on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install whois
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install whois
Install whois on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install whois
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install whois
How To Uninstall whois on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the whois
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove whois
