In this tutorial we learn how to install texlive-uptex on Fedora 36.
What is texlive-uptex
upTeX is an extension of pTeX, using UTF-8 input and producing UTF-8 output. It was originally designed to improve support for Japanese, but is also useful for documents in Chinese and Korean. It can process Chinese simplified, Chinese traditional, Japanese, and Korean simultaneously, and can also produce original LaTeX with \inputenc{utf8} and Babel (Latin/Cyrillic/Greek etc.) by switching its \kcatcode tables.
We can use yum or dnf to install texlive-uptex on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive-uptex.
Install texlive-uptex on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-uptex using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install texlive-uptex
Install texlive-uptex on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-uptex using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install texlive-uptex
How To Uninstall texlive-uptex on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the texlive-uptex package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove texlive-uptex
