on Fedora 36.
What is texlive-umlaute
An early package for using alternate input encodings. The author considers the package mostly obsolete, since most of its functions are taken by the inputenc package; however, inputenc doesn’t support the roman8 and atari encodings, so umlaute remains the sole source of that support.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install texlive-umlaute
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive-umlaute.
Install texlive-umlaute on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-umlaute
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install texlive-umlaute
Install texlive-umlaute on Fedora 36 Using yum

using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-umlaute
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install texlive-umlaute
How To Uninstall texlive-umlaute on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the texlive-umlaute
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove texlive-umlaute
