How To Install tcping on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tcping
on Fedora 36.
What is tcping
tcping does a TCP connect to the given ip/port combination. The user can specify a timeout in seconds. This is useful in shell scripts running in firewalled environments. Often SYNs are just being dropped by firewalls, thus connection establishment will be retried several times (for minutes) until a TCP timeout is reached. With tcping it is possible to check first if the desired port is reachable and then start connection establishment.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install tcping
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tcping.
Install tcping on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install tcping
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install tcping
Install tcping on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install tcping
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install tcping
How To Uninstall tcping on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the tcping
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove tcping
