How To Install srm on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install srm
on Fedora 36.
What is srm
srm is a secure replacement for rm(1). Unlike the standard rm, it overwrites the data in the target files before unlinkg them. This prevents command-line recovery of the data by examining the raw block device. It may also help frustrate physical examination of the disk, although it’s unlikely that completely protects against this type of recovery.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install srm
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install srm.
Install srm on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install srm
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install srm
Install srm on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install srm
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install srm
How To Uninstall srm on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the srm
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove srm
