What is shrinkpdf

A simple wrapper around Ghostscript to shrink PDFs (as in reduce file size) under Linux. The script feeds a PDF through Ghostscript, which performs lossy recompression by such methods as downsampling the images to 72 DPI. The result should be (but not always is) a much smaller file.

We can use yum or dnf to install shrinkpdf on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install shrinkpdf.

Install shrinkpdf on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install shrinkpdf using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install shrinkpdf

Install shrinkpdf on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install shrinkpdf using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install shrinkpdf

How To Uninstall shrinkpdf on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the shrinkpdf package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove shrinkpdf
