How To Install secvarctl on Fedora 36

In this tutorial we learn how to install secvarctl
on Fedora 36.
What is secvarctl
secvarctl is a collection of sub-commands for reading, writing and updating secure variables on POWER’s Secure Boot. The sub-commands are -read , prints info on secure variables -write , updates secure variable with new signed authenticated file -validate , validates format of given file -verify , determines if new variable updates are correctly signed/formatted -generate , create relevant files for secure variable management
We can use yum
or dnf
to install secvarctl
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install secvarctl.
Install secvarctl on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install secvarctl
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install secvarctl
Install secvarctl on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install secvarctl
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install secvarctl
How To Uninstall secvarctl on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the secvarctl
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove secvarctl
