In this tutorial we learn how to install psi-plus on Fedora 36.

What is `psi-plus`

psi-plus is the premiere Instant Messaging application designed for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and GNU/Linux. Built upon an open protocol named Jabber, psi-plus is a fast and lightweight messaging client that utilises the best in open source technologies. psi-plus contains all the features necessary to chat, with no bloated extras that slow your computer down. The Jabber protocol provides gateways to other protocols as AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo!.

We can use yum or dnf to install psi-plus on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install psi-plus.

Install psi-plus on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install psi-plus using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install psi-plus

Install psi-plus on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install psi-plus using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install psi-plus

How To Uninstall psi-plus on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the psi-plus package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove psi-plus
