In this tutorial we learn how to install protobuf-c
on Fedora 36.
What is protobuf-c
Protocol Buffers are a way of encoding structured data in an efficient yet extensible format. This package provides a code generator and run-time libraries to use Protocol Buffers from pure C (not C++). It uses a modified version of protoc called protoc-c.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install protobuf-c
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install protobuf-c.
Install protobuf-c on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install protobuf-c
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install protobuf-c
Install protobuf-c on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install protobuf-c
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install protobuf-c
How To Uninstall protobuf-c on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the protobuf-c
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove protobuf-c
