What is `pfstools`

pfstools is a set of command line programs for reading, writing, manipulating and viewing high-dynamic range (HDR) images and video frames. All programs in the package exchange data using unix pipes and a simple generic HDR image format (pfs). The concept of the pfstools is similar to netpbm package for low-dynamic range images.

We can use yum or dnf to install pfstools on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pfstools.

Install pfstools on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pfstools using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pfstools

Install pfstools on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install pfstools using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install pfstools

How To Uninstall pfstools on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the pfstools package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pfstools
