In this tutorial we learn how to install openldap-compat on Fedora 36.

What is openldap-compat

The openldap-compat package contains shared libraries named as libldap-2.4.so, libldap_r-2.4.so, liblber-2.4.so and libslapi-2.4.so. The libraries are just links to the current version shared libraries, and are available for compatibility reasons.

We can use yum or dnf to install openldap-compat on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openldap-compat.

Install openldap-compat on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install openldap-compat using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install openldap-compat

Install openldap-compat on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install openldap-compat using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install openldap-compat

How To Uninstall openldap-compat on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the openldap-compat package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove openldap-compat
