How To Install ncurses-libs on Fedora 36

In this tutorial we learn how to install ncurses-libs
on Fedora 36.
What is ncurses-libs
The curses library routines are a terminal-independent method of updating character screens with reasonable optimization. The ncurses (new curses) library is a freely distributable replacement for the discontinued 4.4 BSD classic curses library. This package contains the ncurses libraries.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install ncurses-libs
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ncurses-libs.
Install ncurses-libs on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ncurses-libs
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ncurses-libs
Install ncurses-libs on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install ncurses-libs
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ncurses-libs
How To Uninstall ncurses-libs on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the ncurses-libs
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ncurses-libs
