What is miniupnpd

The MiniUPnP daemon is a UPnP Internet Gateway Device. UPnP and NAT-PMP are used to improve internet connectivity for devices behind a NAT router. Any peer to peer network application such as games, IM, etc. can benefit from a NAT router supporting UPnP and/or NAT-PMP.

We can use yum or dnf to install miniupnpd on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install miniupnpd.

Install miniupnpd on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install miniupnpd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install miniupnpd

Install miniupnpd on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install miniupnpd using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install miniupnpd

How To Uninstall miniupnpd on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the miniupnpd package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove miniupnpd
