What is mingw64-c-ares

c-ares is a C library that performs DNS requests and name resolves asynchronously. c-ares is a fork of the library named ‘ares’, written by Greg Hudson at MIT. This package is MinGW compiled c-ares library for the Win64 target.

We can use yum or dnf to install mingw64-c-ares on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install mingw64-c-ares.

Install mingw64-c-ares on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install mingw64-c-ares using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install mingw64-c-ares

Install mingw64-c-ares on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install mingw64-c-ares using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install mingw64-c-ares

How To Uninstall mingw64-c-ares on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the mingw64-c-ares package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove mingw64-c-ares
