What is lensfun

The lensfun library provides an open source database of photographic lenses and their characteristics. It not only provides a way to read and search the database, but also provides a set of algorithms for correcting images based on detailed knowledge of lens properties. Right now lensfun is designed to correct distortion, transversal (also known as lateral) chromatic aberrations, vignetting and color contribution of a lens.

We can use yum or dnf to install lensfun on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lensfun.

Install lensfun on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install lensfun using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install lensfun

Install lensfun on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install lensfun using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install lensfun

How To Uninstall lensfun on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the lensfun package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove lensfun
