How To Install javassist on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install javassist on Fedora 36.
What is javassist
Javassist enables Java programs to define a new class at runtime and to modify a class file when the JVM loads it. Unlike other similar bytecode editors, Javassist provides two levels of API and bytecode level. If the users use the source-level API, they can edit a class file without knowledge of the specifications of the Java bytecode. The whole API is designed with only the vocabulary of the Java language. You can even specify inserted bytecode in the form of source text; Javassist compiles it on the fly. On the other hand, the bytecode-level API allows the users to directly edit a class file as other editors.
We can use yum or dnf to install javassist on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install javassist.
Install javassist on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install javassist using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install javassist
Install javassist on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install javassist using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install javassist
How To Uninstall javassist on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the javassist package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove javassist
