How To Install iw on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install iw
on Fedora 36.
What is iw
iw is a new nl80211 based CLI configuration utility for wireless devices. Currently you can only use this utility to configure devices which use a mac80211 driver as these are the new drivers being written - only because most new wireless devices being sold are now SoftMAC.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install iw
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install iw.
Install iw on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iw
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install iw
Install iw on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install iw
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install iw
How To Uninstall iw on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the iw
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove iw
