How To Install hamlib on Fedora 36

In this tutorial we learn how to install hamlib on Fedora 36.

What is hamlib

Hamlib provides a standardized programming interface that applications can use to send the appropriate commands to a radio. Also included in the package is a simple radio control program ‘rigctl’, which lets one control a radio transceiver or receiver, either from command line interface or in a text-oriented interactive interface.

We can use yum or dnf to install hamlib on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install hamlib.

Install hamlib on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install hamlib using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install hamlib

Install hamlib on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install hamlib using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install hamlib

How To Uninstall hamlib on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the hamlib package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove hamlib
