How To Install gphoto2 on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gphoto2
on Fedora 36.
What is gphoto2
The gPhoto2 project is a universal, free application and library framework that lets you download images from several different digital camera models, including the newer models with USB connections. Note that a) for some older camera models you must use the old “gphoto” package. b) for USB mass storage models you must use the driver in the kernel This package contains the command-line utility gphoto2. Other (GUI) frontends are available separately.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install gphoto2
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gphoto2.
Install gphoto2 on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gphoto2
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install gphoto2
Install gphoto2 on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gphoto2
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install gphoto2
How To Uninstall gphoto2 on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the gphoto2
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove gphoto2
