In this tutorial we learn how to install glide on Fedora 36.

What is `glide`

Glide is a tool for managing the vendor directory within a Go package. This feature, first introduced in Go 1.5, allows each package to have a vendor directory containing dependent packages for the project. These vendor packages can be installed by a tool (e.g. glide), similar to go get or they can be vendored and distributed with the package.

We can use yum or dnf to install glide on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glide.

Install glide on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install glide using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install glide

Install glide on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install glide using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install glide

How To Uninstall glide on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the glide package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove glide
