How To Install flite on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install flite
on Fedora 36.
What is flite
Flite (festival-lite) is a small, fast run-time speech synthesis engine developed at CMU and primarily designed for small embedded machines and/or large servers. Flite is designed as an alternative synthesis engine to Festival for voices built using the FestVox suite of voice building tools.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install flite
on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install flite.
Install flite on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install flite
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install flite
Install flite on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install flite
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install flite
How To Uninstall flite on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the flite
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove flite
