In this tutorial we learn how to install elk on Fedora 36.

What is elk

An all-electron full-potential linearised augmented-plane wave (FP-LAPW) code with many advanced features. Written originally at Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz as a milestone of the EXCITING EU Research and Training Network, the code is designed to be as simple as possible so that new developments in the field of density functional theory (DFT) can be added quickly and reliably.

We can use yum or dnf to install elk on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install elk.

Install elk on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install elk using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install elk

Install elk on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install elk using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install elk

How To Uninstall elk on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the elk package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove elk
