In this tutorial we learn how to install djvulibre on Fedora 36.

What is djvulibre

DjVu is a web-centric format and software platform for distributing documents and images. DjVu can advantageously replace PDF, PS, TIFF, JPEG, and GIF for distributing scanned documents, digital documents, or high-resolution pictures. DjVu content downloads faster, displays and renders faster, looks nicer on a screen, and consume less client resources than competing formats. DjVu images display instantly and can be smoothly zoomed and panned with no lengthy re-rendering. DjVuLibre is a free (GPL’ed) implementation of DjVu, including viewers, decoders, simple encoders, and utilities. The browser plugin is in its own separate sub-package.

We can use yum or dnf to install djvulibre on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install djvulibre.

Install djvulibre on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install djvulibre using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install djvulibre

Install djvulibre on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install djvulibre using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install djvulibre

How To Uninstall djvulibre on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the djvulibre package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove djvulibre
