In this tutorial we learn how to install collectd-mdevents on Fedora 36.

What is collectd-mdevents

This plugin, named mdevents, is responsible for gathering the events from RAID arrays that were written to syslog by mdadm utility (which is a user-space software for managing the RAIDs). Then, based on configuration provided by user, plugin will decide whether to send the collectd notification or not. Mdevents needs the syslog and mdadm to be present on a platform that collectd is launched.

We can use yum or dnf to install collectd-mdevents on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install collectd-mdevents.

Install collectd-mdevents on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install collectd-mdevents using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install collectd-mdevents

Install collectd-mdevents on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install collectd-mdevents using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install collectd-mdevents

How To Uninstall collectd-mdevents on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the collectd-mdevents package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove collectd-mdevents
