How To Install clevis on Fedora 36
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install clevis on Fedora 36.
What is clevis
Clevis is a framework for automated decryption. It allows you to encrypt data using sophisticated unlocking policies which enable decryption to occur automatically. The clevis package provides basic encryption/decryption policy support. Users can use this directly; but most commonly, it will be used as a building block for other packages. For example, see the clevis-luks and clevis-dracut packages for automatic root volume unlocking of LUKSv1 volumes during early boot.
We can use yum or dnf to install clevis on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install clevis.
Install clevis on Fedora 36 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install clevis using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install clevis
Install clevis on Fedora 36 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install clevis using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install clevis
How To Uninstall clevis on Fedora 36
To uninstall only the clevis package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove clevis
