In this tutorial we learn how to install cdw on Fedora 36.

What is cdw

cdw is a ncurses based front-end for some command-line tools used for burning data CD and DVD discs and for related tasks. The tools are mkisofs/genisoimage, growisofs, dvd+rw-mediainfo, dvd+rw-format, xorriso. cdw is able to rip tracks from your audio CD to raw audio files. Limited support for copying content of data CD and DVD discs to image files is also provided. cdw can verify correctness of writing ISO9660 image to CD or DVD disc using md5sum or some of programs that verifies SHA hashes.

We can use yum or dnf to install cdw on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cdw.

Install cdw on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install cdw using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install cdw

Install cdw on Fedora 36 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install cdw using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install cdw

How To Uninstall cdw on Fedora 36

To uninstall only the cdw package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove cdw
