How To Install apbs on Fedora 36

In this tutorial we learn how to install apbs in Fedora 36. apbs is Adaptive Poisson Boltzmann Solver

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install apbs on Fedora 36.

What is apbs

APBS is a software package for the numerical solution of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE), one of the most popular continuum models for describing electrostatic interactions between molecular solutes in salty, aqueous media. APBS was designed to efficiently evaluate electrostatic properties for such simulations for a wide range of length scales to enable the investigation of molecules with tens to millions of atoms. It is also widely used in molecular visualization (in such applications as PyMOL).

We can use yum or dnf to install apbs on Fedora 36. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install apbs.

Install apbs on Fedora 36 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install apbs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install apbs

Install apbs on Fedora 36 Using yum
