What is xwd

Xwd is an X Window System window dumping utility. Xwd allows X users to store window images in a specially formatted dump file. This file can then be read by various other X utilities for redisplay, printing, editing, formatting, archiving, image processing, etc.

We can use yum or dnf to install xwd on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xwd.

Install xwd on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install xwd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install xwd

How To Uninstall xwd on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the xwd package we can use the following command:
